Role & Responsibilities
As a Caregiver or Home Support Worker in Canada, you will be responsible for providing personal care, health assistance, and emotional support to elderly, disabled, or chronically ill clients. This is a live-in position, requiring candidates who are compassionate, patient, and professional, ensuring the client’s safety, comfort, and overall well-being throughout their stay.

🔹 Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Personal Care Assistance
- Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and maintaining personal hygiene, ensuring their dignity and comfort at all times.
- Support clients with oral care, hair care, and skin care routines, tailored to their specific needs.
- Help clients with mobility transfers, such as moving from bed to wheelchair, chair, or bathroom safely.
- Observe and document any changes in health, skin condition, or physical well-being, and report promptly to family members or healthcare supervisors.
2. Mobility & Exercise Support
- Encourage and assist clients in light exercises or physiotherapy routines prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Support muscle strength, flexibility, and balance to prevent falls or injuries.
- Ensure safe participation in mobility activities and provide physical assistance when needed.
3. Nutrition & Meal Preparation
- Prepare balanced, nutritious meals based on dietary requirements, allergies, or medical restrictions.
- Assist clients with eating and drinking, ensuring proper hydration and nutritional intake.
- Monitor food consumption and appetite changes, reporting any concerns to family members or healthcare supervisors.
4. Medication & Health Monitoring
- Administer or remind clients to take prescribed medications and treatments on schedule.
- Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and behavioral changes accurately.
- Report any health concerns, medication side effects, or unusual conditions immediately.
5. Emotional Support & Companionship
- Provide emotional support, social interaction, and companionship to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation.
- Engage clients in recreational activities, cognitive exercises, and hobbies suitable for their abilities.
- Offer reassurance and patient guidance during emotional or stressful situations.
6. Home Safety & Environment Maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home environment for the client.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry, cleaning, and sanitization of living areas.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring safety at all times.
- Respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies or unexpected situations.
7. Communication & Documentation
- Maintain regular communication with family members, healthcare providers, and supervisors regarding client care.
- Document all daily care activities, health observations, and progress reports in detail.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of any incidents, health changes, or emergency events.
🔹 Work Environment & Expectations
- This is a live-in position, requiring adaptability to the client’s daily routine and household environment.
- Standard working hours: 40–45 hours per week, with occasional overtime as needed.
- Must maintain professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity while interacting with clients and their families.
- Follow Canadian caregiving protocols, labor laws, and health & safety standards at all times.
