Role & Responsibilities
As a Caregiver / Home Support Worker in Canada, you will play a crucial role in supporting the health, well-being, and daily life of elderly, disabled, or chronically ill clients. This is a live-in position, which means you will reside with the client to provide continuous care, assistance, and companionship. The role requires a combination of compassion, patience, professionalism, and practical caregiving skills to ensure that clients receive high-quality care in a safe and comfortable environment.
Your work will focus not only on physical care but also on emotional support, nutrition, health monitoring, and maintaining a positive home environment. You will be an essential part of helping clients live independently, safely, and with dignity.
Key Responsibilities

Daily Personal Care & Hygiene
- Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring safety, comfort, and dignity at all times.
- Help maintain personal hygiene, including hair care, oral hygiene, nail care, and skin care.
- Support clients with clothing selection and assist with mobility aids as needed.

Mobility Support & Exercises
- Help clients with walking, transferring, and light physical exercises to maintain or improve mobility.
- Ensure proper use of mobility aids like walkers, wheelchairs, or canes.
- Encourage physical activity to prevent stiffness and maintain independence.

Nutrition & Meal Preparation
- Plan, prepare, and serve healthy and balanced meals tailored to dietary restrictions or health conditions.
- Assist clients with feeding if required and ensure proper hydration throughout the day.
- Monitor food intake and report any dietary issues or preferences.

Medication & Health Management
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules or remind clients to take them.
- Monitor vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate if instructed.
- Report any changes in health conditions or unusual symptoms to family members or healthcare professionals.

Emotional Support & Companionship
- Provide social interaction and emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness or anxiety.
- Engage clients in activities, hobbies, or conversation to improve mental well-being.
- Observe mood changes and address emotional needs in a compassionate manner.

Home Environment & Safety
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home, performing light housekeeping, laundry, and tidying duties.
- Identify potential hazards and ensure safety in daily activities to prevent accidents.
- Ensure the home environment is comfortable, secure, and suitable for the client’s needs.

Communication & Reporting
- Communicate effectively with family members, healthcare professionals, and other caregivers regarding client progress.
- Maintain accurate daily care logs, activity reports, and incident records for monitoring and future reference.
- Report emergencies or unusual situations promptly and follow required protocols.

Requirements
To be considered for this Caregiver / Home Support Worker role in Canada, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Age Requirement:
- Applicants must be between 21 and 45 years old. This ensures they are physically capable of performing the demands of a live-in caregiving role.

Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 1–3 years of experience in caregiving, home support, or nursing is preferred.

- Applicants should be physically fit to assist clients with mobility, lifting, and daily tasks.
