Role & Responsibilities
As a Caregiver or Home Support Worker in Canada, you will play a crucial role in supporting the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of elderly, disabled, or chronically ill clients. This live-in role requires a combination of practical caregiving skills, patience, empathy, and professionalism to ensure clients’ comfort, safety, and quality of life.

🔹 Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Personal Care Assistance
- Provide assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene while preserving clients’ dignity and privacy.
- Support clients in hair care, skincare, and general hygiene routines according to personal preferences.
- Assist with mobility transfers, including moving between bed, wheelchair, chair, or bathroom safely.
- Observe and report changes in skin condition, wounds, or overall health to healthcare professionals or family members.
2. Mobility & Exercise Support
- Help clients perform light exercises or physiotherapy routines prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Encourage movement and activity to maintain flexibility, strength, and independence.
- Provide support for walking, stretching, and positioning to prevent falls and injuries.
3. Nutrition & Meal Preparation
- Prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals tailored to clients’ dietary needs, restrictions, or medical conditions.
- Monitor clients’ food and fluid intake to ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
- Assist clients during mealtime if needed, ensuring a comfortable and dignified dining experience.
- Communicate with families or healthcare providers if dietary or health issues arise.
4. Medication & Health Management
- Administer or remind clients to take medications, supplements, or treatments according to prescribed schedules.
- Maintain accurate medication logs and report missed doses or adverse reactions promptly.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, or families to ensure adherence to medical care plans.
5. Emotional Support & Companionship
- Offer emotional support, encouragement, and companionship to reduce loneliness or anxiety.
- Engage clients in recreational activities, hobbies, and social interaction to stimulate cognitive and emotional health.
- Provide reassurance and guidance in stressful or emotionally challenging situations.
6. Home Safety & Environment Management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living space for clients.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, tidying, and sanitization.
- Identify and prevent potential hazards, ensuring a safe environment.
- Respond promptly and calmly to emergency situations following safety protocols.
7. Communication & Documentation
- Communicate regularly with family members, caregivers, and healthcare professionals regarding client progress and needs.
- Maintain daily logs of activities, medications, vital signs, and behavioral observations.
- Report any significant health changes or incidents promptly.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

- Live-in arrangement in Canada, requiring adaptability to clients’ routines and household environments.
- Standard 40–45 hours per week, with occasional overtime or weekend coverage if needed.
